Part-Time/Full-Time positions available:
1. Minimum Qualification
A. 21 years of age.
B. Possess a current Maryland license.
C. Possess a current EMT certification.
D. Driving record in compliance with policy regarding insurability.
E. Possess a High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
F. Possess a current CPR certification.
G. Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
2. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
A. When required, assess each call situation to determine the best course of action and the most appropriate BLS treatment protocol.
B. Use medical supplies, medications, equipment and procedures including but not limited to, spinal immobilization equipment, oxygen administration equipment, suction devices and CPR and other procedures required to provide the highest quality pre-hospital patient care.
C. Lift and move patients as required to facilitate transport and treatment.
D. Communicate with Base Station Hospitals and other receiving facilities to receive medical direction and to provide critical patient care information.
E. Communicate treatment and transport information to patients and family in a clear, accurate and compassionate manner. Assume a "team leader role" and take responsibility for scene management when required.
F. Operate the ambulance and/or provide map reading support to minimize call response time.
G. Educate EMT partners on new and/or changing treatment, EMS system and information as needed.
H. Communicate with SmartTrans dispatchers in a clear, concise, and courteous manner via phone and radio to effectively receive and manage calls.
I. Maintain the overall condition of the unit in a manner that maintains the SLA professional image.
J. Actively participate in community education programs to maintain the professional image and establish strong community relations.
K. Document all treatment and transport activities in an accurate, concise and complete manner.
L. Follow all STA policies and procedures.
M. Consider patient status and requests when determine transportation destinations.
N. Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
O. Actively participate in the education and training opportunities offered by STA.
P. Other duties as assigned by the Supervisors.
